Falls Room
The Meeting was called to order by President Jay Davis at 11:00 a.m. with 40 members present.
Opening Remarks: Jay Davis opened the meeting by introducing the current members of the Board of Directors. He thanked departing members, Dan Bergan and Jeanice Monastesse for their unselfish service to the Pickleball Club and congratulated Dale and Ron Sebanc on their recent marriage. He further explained when the newly elected Board would take office.
Election: The candidates for office were recognized.
President: Joe Nelson and Robert Rutty (2-year term)
Vice President: Jean Bowman (1-year term)
Secretary: Genanne Davis (1-year term)
Treasurer: Doris Robak (2 year term)
Member-at-large: Roger Breding, Jesse Reed, and Jim Trantham (2 year term)
Voting took place by secret ballot. Election Committee Chair, Tony Cardoni, and two members, Dan Bergan and Sandy McCabe, counted the ballots.
Senior Olympics: Jay Davis explained the City of Prescott may not be able to host the Senior Olympics in 2016 due to budget constraints. The Pickleball Club has been looking into doing it ourselves. If we run the tournament, all profits come to the Club. There have been talks with Pickleball, Inc. about it. It would probably cost about $10.00 more per registrant to have them run the registration, ladders and tournament. However, in order to do so, we need co-director to volunteer. Discussion was held.
Guest Policy: There has been some concerns raised about the number of guests who play on crowded morning taking up court space of paying members. Jay Davis reported some clubs restrict guests to certain times. A brief discussion was held.
Informal Play: Jay Davis explained The Pickleball Club Board of Directors encourages group play in the afternoons by those who wish to play with people of their own level. The hope is to take pressure off crowded courts in the mornings. Group play is not on the schedule and is up to individuals to organize.
Board Member Reports:
Vice President: No report.
Secretary: Genanne Davis reported a new member as of today brings the membership total to 132. She thanked members for their kind and caring words during her recent health problems.
Treasurer: Doris Robak reported a bank balance of $2,100. Financial statements were available at the meeting for members to view. She reminded members that membership renewal for 2016 will begin November 15.
Member-at-large: Dan Berman talked about the friendly experience he has had playing pickleball and encouraged members to continue in those efforts. He also thanked Jay Davis for his efforts over the past two years as President.
Member-at-large: Jeanice Monastesse thanked Jay for being a great leader. She added she will continue on the Social Committee.
